Study Overview
We're conducting a genuine research initiative to understand the relationships between physical capabilities and pitching performance at every level.
Your data will contribute to aggregated analysis that could shape how future athletes train and develop. No individual results are published — only anonymized, aggregate findings that advance the science of pitching.
Free Access to Standardized Testing
TrackMan, force plates, DynaMo strength testing, and comprehensive anthropometric analysis — at no cost to participants.
What to Expect
A 60-90 minute comprehensive assessment session using standardized testing protocols.
Force Plate Testing
Countermovement jump, squat jump, and isometric mid-thigh pull to measure lower body power production.
Shoulder Strength
DynaMo isometric testing to assess rotator cuff strength and identify potential imbalances.
Anthropometrics
Height, weight, limb lengths, and hand measurements to understand physical characteristics.
High-Intent Bullpen
Full bullpen session with TrackMan tracking velocity, spin rate, movement, and command.
What We Measure
Comprehensive data points that paint a complete picture of pitching performance.
Pitch Tracking
Velocity, spin rate, spin axis, movement profile, extension
Force Production
Ground reaction forces, power output, rate of force development
Shoulder Strength
Internal/external rotation strength, strength ratios
Body Measurements
Arm length, hand size, height, weight, wingspan
Command Analysis
Zone location, accuracy metrics, pitch distribution
Motion Capture
3D biomechanics and joint angle analysis (coming soon)
What Participants Receive
Participants who complete the study session will receive:
- A TrackMan bullpen report from their testing session
- High-level context showing how selected metrics compare to other athletes in the study cohort (by age and level)
This information is provided for transparency and educational purposes. The primary goal of the study is data collection and aggregated analysis, not individual coaching or training prescriptions.
Who Should Apply
We're looking for pitchers ready to throw at game intensity. All skill levels welcome — from high school to professional.
- Pitchers ages 14+ through professional level
- Must be healthy and able to throw a high-intent bullpen
- Available for a session between mid-February and end of Summer
- Willing to complete the full 60-90 minute assessment protocol
Selection & Capacity
Participation is limited by testing capacity. Submitting an application does not guarantee selection.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Selected participants will be contacted to schedule a session.
Applicants may be waitlisted if capacity is reached.
